Biggie came to us from a Slovakian rescue when the war broke out in Ukraine. She was a bit on the crazy side, and super dog aggressive. It took six months before we were able to imbed her with the pack, and to this day, she generally would prefer to be on her own than with the other dogs. Because she has a history of dog aggression, we will only adopt her to a solo animal home, which she’s earned for her last years. Peace is what Biggie wants most from life now.
You’ll notice Biggie’s ears are only half there. That’s because some asshole (excuse my language but it’s not nearly adequate) cut them off. Not for any good reason, just for fun, because they could. Every time I look at her ears, I think how amazing it is that Biggie is SO unbelievably human friendly. This is a dog who truly loves people, despite what humans have done to her in the past. She is such a cuddle bug, she wants to be with her humans at all times, typical of her breed. She is also super, super smart, and still learning new tricks even at her age!
Not so long after she came to us, Biggie started to lose weight suddenly. Tests revealed tumors on both her liver and her kidneys. The prognosis wasn’t good, a few months maybe. That was over two years ago now. Biggie, on just hospice care, rebounded to everyone’s shock. She shows no signs of slowing down either. I think she’s waiting to spend her last years with a proper family.
Biggie is heart worm positive. Her diagnosis meant that the vets suggested we don’t treat it and we haven’t. Somehow, like with the cancers, she’s fine.
Biggie is good on leash and love walkies. She is trained in all basic commands and is fully house trained. She is truly the sweetest, most lovely dog who deserves a retirement in a home of her own and not in kennels. Please share this senior love for us to find her the best forever family.
